Article: Rain--Rain--What-a-Pain-----Book-Review

Rain, Rain, What a Pain! is illustrated by the highly accomplished and award-winning artist, Pamela Key. I just could not say enough good things about her work and certainly, the illustrations are the strongest asset of this children’s book. This is work you’d expect to see in an art gallery. Bright detailed textures and backgrounds – some with what looks like real rain drops on the page which gives a feeling of the here and now, or possibly a mystic feeling that the book was created for just that moment. Obviously, I was impressed. However, I felt that the activity pages at the end of the book were not age-appropriate as the simplistic story line appeals more to a very young audience.

Rain, Rain, What a Pain! is the second children’s book written by Sheila Sauvageau-Smestad. The author attempts to bring some understanding to the necessity of rain, and what happens when there is too little or too much of it.
