Article: Keys-to-Finding-the-Right-Company-to-Represent,-or-to-Represent-You
by Leslie Johnston When you are in search for a company to work for, or I shall say represent you, there are many key factors to use. I say represent you, because you are representing the company, this is true and at the same time what that company represents is what the client sees in you as well. So to have the client looking at a reliable person will be somewhat based on your company’s history of service and what they truly represent. In order to do this I suggest using the S.W.O.T. analysis.
S W O T
Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities Threats
Strengths-First thing you do is look at your strengths, write them down and look to how you can build on them. Ignore your weaknesses at the moment (everybody’s got them) because you will find they will get better as you develop.
Opportunities-Now concentrate on all opportunities you have identified, write them down and how to exploit them to the full.
Threats- You can now look at the threats and see if they are perceived or real and you will soon learn how to avoid them, unless of course it is an insurmountable threat in the form of the opposition and if so the answer to that is simple. If they are that good – Join Them
You will find if you keep at it, you will be forced to jot down the first thing that comes into your head.
This Will Be The Truth coming straight from you subconscious mind and not allowing your conscious mind time to think of an answer to please you.
Finished? Good now you are in a position to plan your future, and I’ll bet you found that to be an interesting exercise.
Join Them.
Be very careful here because it may only be a perceived threat and you could end up joining a worse company than the one you just left.
When you are doing the SWOT on your company (or the one you’re thinking of joining) make sure you cover everything.
I know lots of companies that I have done work for that had excellent products but were let down badly by some (or all) of the following: - Poor Management, Administration, Distribution, Communication, or After Sales Service.
I don’t care how good a sales person you are, you will fail miserably if you are not getting full support from all areas of your company.
If you’re not, then move on or they will bring you down.
